PURPOSE OF JOB:
To serve as the team leader who is responsible for the overall customer experience at Elmbrook Humane Society (EBHS). To oversee entry of data in PetPoint and assist with entry into Donor Snap. To provide supervision and training to customer relations staff. To collaborate on the creation and implementation of organizational policies and procedures. To maintain a commitment to the philosophies and policies of EBHS in the performance of his/her duties and respect the dignity and basic rights of each animal. To support the mission of EBHS.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for answering phones and greeting the public. Serves as a public liaison to the organization and relate effectively to the public and staff in a positive and professional manner.
  • Train, supervise, and schedule customer relations associates.
  • Foster Care Program:
  1. Maintain foster volunteer database.
  2. Assist with recruitment of foster volunteers.
  3. In collaboration with the Director of Animal Care and Field Services and animal care team, secure foster home volunteers for animals in need of foster care.
  4. Manage the communication with foster homes.
  5. Manage the appointments and returns, including obtaining information about fosters while in foster care, of all foster animals.
  • Oversee the EBHS store including maintaining adequate stock, seeking out desired stock from customers and staff, ensuring invoices are correct when received, and the store is clean, tidy, and welcoming.
  • Manage front office equipment maintenance, maintain adequate office supply inventory, maintain adequate customer relations forms and supplies, and ensure lobby area is clean and welcoming.
  • Manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of shelter front office operations through improvements to each function as well as coordination and communication between support and business functions.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, assign, and evaluate the work of assigned staff; provide guidance and training to same.
  • Develop and implement customer relations procedures, routines, and filing systems as necessary; assess efficiency of department procedures and recommend changes to Executive Director; implement new or revised procedures to increase department efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide information on departmental services and programs to the public and staff; interpret policies and explain procedures; collect fees, provide copies of published materials, resolve conflicts and problems.
  • Compile data from a variety of sources and prepare reports as directed. May involve statistical calculations and tabulations in accordance with established formulas.
  • Maintain follow-up system on reports or actions that are required on a periodic basis.
  • Create an environment that encourages communication and collaboration among all staff and volunteer positions and a culture that is service-orientated, relationship-based, and donor-centered.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To ensure the basic daily financial and personnel needs/requirements are successfully met. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Process accounts payable to ensure timely and accurate payment.
  • Prepare, at minimum, weekly deposits of daily receipts, EBHS store activity, gifts received via mail, and fundraising events.
  • Process timecards, prepare payroll for review, make tax deposits and submit reviewed payroll to EBHS’s financial institution.
  • Prepare and send monthly invoices for animal control services to the respective municipalities EBHS contracts with. Maintain accounts receivable with these customers to ensure accounts receivable remain current.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining policies and procedures as they relate to financial needs.
  • Ensure timely preparation and remittance of applicable federal and state forms as they relate to the operations of EBHS, payroll, subcontractors, unemployment insurance, worker’s compensation, etc.
  • Responsible for maintaining all personnel and benefit files including but not limited to ensuring all new hire forms are on file and delivered to respective agencies, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, participating in the new hire process, specifically all new hire forms, insurance benefits, review of employee handbook, etc.
  • Assist with annual analysis of health, dental and other employee benefits.

Animal caregiver- medical team

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To serve as a team member who provides high quality care for the animals under the protection of Elmbrook Humane Society (EBHS). To assist in providing education to the community through adoption counseling and participating in community events. To maintain a commitment to the philosophies and policies of EBHS in the performance of his/her duties and respect the dignity and basic rights of each animal. To support the mission and vision of EBHS.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform, administer, and record medical treatments.
  • Perform intake and wellness exams.
  • Groom and bathe animals.
  • Administer vaccinations.
  • Maintain medical records in the shelter database.
  • Assist the veterinarian with setting up procedures, weekly medical checks, adhering to standards that keep animals safe, and keeping medical and intake areas clean and organized.
  • Pre-medicate and induce surgical patients, intubate animals, and clean and prepare surgical instruments.
  • Maintain and follow all departmental procedures, protocols, and safety guidelines.
  • Respond to emergency medical situations.
  • Prepare lab samples and evaluate in-house lab work.
  • Perform daily wellness rounds.
  • Assist in the care and treatment of animals in foster for medical conditions/concerns.
  • Assist with and perform euthanasia of shelter animals when needed.
  • Respond to pre/post-adoption health inquiries.
  • Notify behavior team of animal behavioral needs/concerns.
  • Notify the Shelter Operations Manager of animal medical needs/concerns.

  • Assist with providing training and supervision to volunteers as requested by the Community Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator and Shelter Operations Manager.
  • Assist with providing training to staff as requested by the Shelter Operations Manager.
  • Participate in organizational committee initiatives.
  • Participate in rotational pager duty as required to include capture, pick-up, and transport of domestic and wild animals.

Part time, kennel care position open in Hayward Wisconsin at the Northwoods Humane Society.
DAYS – Friday, Saturday, Monday 7am to 3pm & Sunday 7am to 11am.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Clean dog and cat isolation or main kennels per cleaning instructions
  • Clean animals in “other animal room” per their needs
  • Feed all animals in isolation or main kennels and keep feeding schedules up to date

iowa county humane society
executive director

.Iowa County Humane Society (ICHS) in Dodgeville, WI is seeking an Executive Director (ED) to lead the organization. ICHS is a small animal shelter (intake of approximately 400 animals annually) with a no-kill philosophy that has contracts with several cities for stray animal holding and also handles humane investigations. Dodgeville is a picturesque city with excellent schools, a low cost of living, many recreation areas and a high quality of life. Median house price is $155,000.

The ED will report to the Board of Directors and lead the staff in the execution of ICHS’ mission. The ED will provide leadership across all operations and programs including hiring and management of staff, facilities, day-to-day administration, budgeting, training, purchasing, community outreach, marketing and fundraising. The ED will also develop and maintain policies and procedures for all staff functions; ensure fiscal responsibility over budgeting in collaboration with the Board Treasurer; determine staffing needs and maintain, develop and implement fundraising initiatives through donor relations, social media, grants and events.

Working closely with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will help to develop an overall strategy to achieve our long-term vision. This position is an outstanding professional opportunity to shape and build a strong and successful organization that will continue to serve the needs of our community for many years to come. Full-time. Salary $40K.

Requirements include previous experience in non-profit animal shelter management; knowledge and expertise in animal sheltering issues such as animal care, disease prevention, volunteer management, adoption issues and methods to decrease the length of stay; ability to coach staff and develop high-performance teams; strong marketing, social media, public relations and fundraising skills; strong written and verbal communication skills; and budget development. Bachelors degree strongly preferred.

ADAMS COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY
​ANIMAL CARETAKER

The Animal Caretaker position is responsible for many tasks throughout the day. Cleaning cat and dog cages, taking dogs out to their play yards, vaccinating animals, feeding animals, medicating animals, laundry, dishes, adoption counseling and customer service are just a few things you will come across on your day to day tasks. This job is not for those with weak stomachs as you will come across vomit, diarrhea, parasites such as roundworms or tape worms, and abuse/neglect cases. While these things are not an everyday occurrence, being able to clean up after them is a must.

Qualifications: 
-Must be comfortable around needles.
-Must have a valid drivers license. 
-Good interpersonal, communication, customer service, and time management skills are essential.
-Ability and initiative, working with minimal supervision and direction.
-Maturity, good judgment and a professional personal appearance.
-Ability to identify problems or patient conditions (medical and behavioral) that need to be brought to the attention of the Shelter Manager.
-Comfort and ability to work with animals of unknown disposition and those who may exhibit medical and other problems, as well as aggressive tendencies.

Physical Requirements:
-Ability to walk and/or stand on your feet throughout a normal workday.
-Ability to engage in repetitive motions of legs, arms, and hands, to hear, to see, to move animals and goods.
-Ability to push up to 150 pounds and carry up to 50 pounds regularly throughout a normal workday .
-Allergic conditions, which would be aggravated when handling or working with animals, may be a disqualification.

Pay negotiable based on experience.  This position is responsible for development, implementation, and management of the reception and adoption departments, including satellite adoption programs. QUALIFICATIONS
  • Technical degree conducive with supporting the responsibilities of this position.

  • Minimum of three years’ employment experience in an animal related field, i.e. humane society, veterinary clinic.
