Humanitarian of the Year Award, Presented to an Animal
An animal that came to the aid of its owner or another person or animal, showing exceptional bravery, courage, skill, training, loyalty, and exhibiting characteristics that make it clearly a hero due to an exemplary act that it has performed. This award may be presented annually at the WFHS Annual Conference.
Humanitarian of the Year Award, Presented to a Person
A youth sixteen years of age or younger, who of his or her own free will, aids or assists an animal(s) in need. A person who exhibits extreme compassion, bravery, heroism and kindness towards an animal. This award may be presented annually by WFHS at the Annual Conference.
Humanitarian of the Year Award, Presented to an Animal Care Professional
To include but not limited to, a veterinarian, animal caretaker or humane society staff member who exhibits a personal involvement and dedication above and beyond what is normally required by the profession. This person shows through personal efforts a commitment to the field of animal welfare, achieving, advancing and improving the standards for the profession. This award may be presented annually by WFHS at the Annual Conference.
Humanitarian of the Year Award, Presented to a Corporation
This award given to a corporation or business that exhibits involvement, dedication, or commitment to the field of animal welfare, achieving, advancing and improving the standards of the profession. This award may be presented annually by WFHS at the Annual Conference.
Eugene Kabel Humanitarian Award, Presented to a Person
Presented on occasion to either an animal care professional or non-animal care professional. This award has the honor of being the highest achievement award presented by the WFHS. The recipient of this award has demonstrated a long-term public commitment and is viewed as a pioneer in the field of animal welfare. It is through this individual’s devotion, compassion and kindness shown towards animals, that advancements and improvements in the field of animal welfare have been obtained. The recipient of the Eugene Kabel Humanitarian Award is truly a person who has set standards for others to follow.
