The Wisconsin Federated Humane Society, Inc. is the only state-wide organization that represents humane societies in Wisconsin. The organization is governed by a Board of Directors, which sets policies and monitors finances. All Board Members maintain an individual membership in WFHS, and serve a three-year term, without compensation. Duties include attending and actively participating in scheduled board meetings and board retreats, taking part in committees and supporting special events.

                                    Board Members must:

                                  • Adhere to the WFHS Board of Directors Code of Ethics (PDF)

                                  • Be informed on issues and agenda items in advance of all meetings

                                  • Contribute skills, knowledge and experience when appropriate

                                  • Participate in organizational decision making

                                  • Financially support the organization

                                  • Assume leadership roles in all board activities, including fund raising

                                  • Professionally represent the organization to the public and private industry

                                  • Continue to educate themselves about the needs of the organizations served

Board Members can expect to spend approximately 5 to 8 hours per month on board related activities in addition to scheduled meetings.

If you have read the entire WFHS Board Member Job Description and think that you might be interested in serving on the WFHS Board of Directors, please feel free to fill out an application for Board Membership and mail it, along with a letter of recommendation, to Marnie Brown, The Washington County Humane Society, 3650 State Road 60, Slinger, WI   53086.
